2015 | M | Drama, Romance
An Irish immigrant lands in 1950s Brooklyn, where she quickly falls into a romance with a local. When her past catches up with her, however, she must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within.
1) Did you like it?
While the blurb for Brooklyn might seem like it’s about a romantic relationship, I found this movie to be more about identity and discovery rather than anything else. The story might not be ground-breaking or ultimately unforgettable, but the characters are sweet and likable, their wants and fears relatable.
3) “You would like this movie if…”
You don’t mind slice-of-life movies, because Brooklyn is definitely that.
4) “This movie made me think about…”
The struggles one has to face when leaving home for the unknown, in search for a better future. What makes it worth it? What makes it not?
5) Overall rating?
