1) Did you like it?

Yes! It’s gripping television.

2) Why?

Stranger Things is a genuinely creepy paranormal mystery, starring some excellent child actors, and 90’s legend Winona Ryder at the top of her game. Part cop show, part high school drama, part monster movie, it’s hard to say more without giving away any spoilers, but this show will suck you in!

The events take place in 1983 in a small, Midwestern town, and while the 80’s revival element isn’t 100% essential to the plot, it’s clear that everyone involved had a lot of fun recreating the setting. From the cars, to the clothes and hairdos, and the carefully curated soundtrack, there’s a lot of nostalgia to be had here. Keen Dungeons & Dragons players will enjoy the gaming scenes and glimpses of vintage rulebooks.

3) “You would enjoy this series if…”

You enjoyed Fringe and other emotionally charged paranormal dramas.

4) “This series made me think about…”

The dynamics of horror and thriller films have changed so much now that every character has a mobile phone and internet access. It’s kind of nice to see a show where the characters have to figure things out without modern technology.

5) Overall rating?
