Fast Five Review: Suicide Squad (2016)

2016 | M | Action, Adventure, Fantasy

A secret government agency recruits some of the most dangerous incarcerated super-villains to form a defensive task force. Their first mission: save the world from the apocalypse.

1) Did you like it?

Not really.

2) Why?

It started out pretty fun — the introduction of each member of the Suicide Squad was relatively exciting and I was full of anticipation for the great things these supposed super-villains were ostensibly going to do… but then the plot just stopped and suddenly everything became very dull. The characters became boring, the antagonist was laughable, and not even the action managed to salvage my attention.

I’m sure many have and will watch this because of the hype surrounding the title, but personally Suicide Squad adds nothing to the DC Universe. There’s no engaging action, no emotional impact, no quirky characters that you end up rooting for.

3) “You would enjoy this movie if…”

You’re really into DC and have very, very, very low expectations.

4) “This movie made me think about…”

How much better it could have been! So much promise only to fail in execution.

5) Overall rating?
