A five-star rating

Follows two teenage boys, Pikelet  and Loonie, growing up in a remote corner of the Western Australian coast.

Did you like it? Yes
Why? This film blends gorgeous scenery and fantastic surfing scenes with an unusual coming-of-age story. The attention to natural beauty and sincere lead actors give both moving and believable performances. The Winton voice-over throughout, is a nice touch for die-hard fans of the author.
Finish this sentence: You would enjoy this if… you enjoy the current Australian film-set.
Finish this sentence: This made me think about… An emotive movie which touches on elements of one’s own adolescent experience, set within a beautiful Australiana landscape.

Vicky
MA15+ | Drama | Film
A five-star rating

From Force Majeure director Ruben Ostlund comes the Palme d’Or winning satire – The Square. A poignant reflections of our times – about the sense of community, moral courage and the affluent person’s need for egocentricity in an increasingly uncertain age.

Did you like it? Um…yes, I think so.
Why? Engaging from the outset, it’s an intelligent, funny and gripping satire set in Sweden’s high-concept art world. The Square’s themes are heavy as it critiques contemporary art practices and explores modern social constructs, yet it is peppered with enough absurdist scenes and laugh out loud moments, that overall I had an enjoyable experience watching this film.
Finish this sentence: You would enjoy this if… You wish to have a heated and lengthy post-film discussion about how on-point the film is with its essential depiction of art and world as at odds, ludicrous and hypocritical.
Finish this sentence: This made me think about… The ridiculous nature of humans and the labels we assign ourselves.

Sally
M | Horror | Film
A five-star rating

A harmless game of “Truth or Dare” among friends turns deadly when someone–or something–begins to punish those who tell a lie–or refuse the dare.

Did you like it? Yes
Why? It was nostalgic of a 90s teen horror film and doesn’t take itself too seriously. The movie is what it is, a movie aimed at Gen Z with a “touch of horror”.
Finish this sentence: You would enjoy this if… You’re in the mood for a 2018 take on franchises like ‘Scream’ or ‘I know what you did last Summer’
Finish this sentence: This movie made me think about… The importance of group dynamics in a film, regardless of the film genre.

Sally
M | Action | Film
A five-star rating

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos.

Did you like it? Yes
Why? The writers have woven together a decade’s worth of story lines from 20 different films into this single culmination of characters. The foresight and planning of this task, on this scale is remarkable.
Finish this sentence: You would enjoy this if… You like popular movies that spare no expense.
Finish this sentence: This movie made me think about… The number of people, and the level of organization it must take to deliver a project the size of this movie. Considering the size of the cast, planning their schedules, the size of the sets, other Marvel movies being in production at the same time, the logistics of weaving the production together, pre-existing story lines, aligning this movie with each characters future story line, the large teams for stunts/animation/costuming, the media tour etc… the planning of the film and everything associated with it is very impressive.

Lukas
MA15+ | CoA five-star ratingmedy | Film

When an international border dispute arises a between the U.S. and Canada, the Super Troopers – Mac, Thorny, Foster, Rabbit and Fara – are called in to set up a new Highway Patrol station in the disputed area.

Did you enjoy this movie? Occasionally
What did you like/not like about it? Like the first installment, many of the jokes really miss the mark as if written by a stoned high school kid who later in life realises how unfunny they were. On the odd occasion there are some funnier parts, but generally speaking, the dynamic of the main characters is flat and uninteresting. They drag out scene ideas that weren’t funny to begin with, more interested in making themselves laugh in the edit suite rather than what would be best for the movie itself and audience appeal.
Describe this film using 5 keywords… Flat, Trying too hard, Drawn out, Occasional humour, Crass
Would you recommend it to a friend? Do I have to care about this friend?

Foul-mouthed mutant mercenary Wade Wilson (AKA. Deadpool), brings together a team of fellow mutant rogues to protect a young boy with supernatural abilities from the brutal, time-traveling cyborg, Cable.

Did you enjoy this movie? Yes
What did you like/not like about it? It’s an action-packed superhero comedy that delivers in a way unlike other superhero movies. Has good pacing, unpredictable situations and overall just good fun!
Describe this film using 5 keywords… Action-packed, Comedic, Genre bending, Hyper violent, A spectacle
Would you recommend it to a friend? Sure. But it’s definitely not for young kids.

PG | Anime | Film
A five-star rating

Mitsuha and Taki are two total strangers living completely different lives. But when Mitsuha makes a wish to leave her mountain town for the bustling city of Tokyo, they become connected in a bizarre way.

Did you like it? Yes, highly recommend.
Why? This is voted as the top 3 of “the greatest anime of all-time” on SBS website. This is a wistfully lovely Japanese tale mix of time-travel and body-swap. Makoto Shinkai’s film is especially stunning for its graphic style. It’s hard not to notice that when you press “pause button” at any time of the film, the graphic is so gorgeous and beautiful like a painting.
Finish this sentence: You would enjoy this if… You would enjoy this if you listen to film soundtrack. The film theme song and background music is composed and sung by Japanese band “Radwimps”. The music is seamlessly integrated into every plot of this film, bringing out lots of feelings and emotions. After finishing watching the film, I still listen to the soundtrack again and again.
Finish this sentence: This made me think about… This made me think about Makoto Shinkai’s another film titled “5 Centimetres Per Second”. It’s also a very touching, tearful Japanese romance story.

MA15+ | Anime | TV Series
A five-star rating

After his hometown is destroyed and his mother is killed, young Eren Yeager vows to cleanse the earth of the giant humanoid Titans that have brought humanity to the brink of extinction.

Did you like it? Yes, I like it very much.
Why? This is voted as the top 5 of “the greatest anime of all-time” on SBS website. When I first time see the graphic style of this anime, it wasn’t attracted me to watch. However, I still tried to watch the 1st episode and I was hooked, then I finished the whole season 2 and now is waiting for season 3’s the latest episode every week.
Finish this sentence: You would enjoy this if… You would enjoy this if you would like to watch something is more reality, depth thinking, shocking and blow your mind.
Finish this sentence: This made me think about… This made me think about…On the surface it is an outstanding cartoon, good story and awesome production, but what distinguish them from other Anime is that, Attack on Titans is actually a metaphor for contemporary society, it well illustrated a society full of crisis and criticized those people who refuse to change. It makes you think especially under the current economy situations, are we prepare for the coming crisis, or we just look away?
